This is an exciting time to join Wiltshire Council. As well as being high performing we pride ourselves on being one of the most forward thinking councils in the UK and have been innovating and transforming since becoming a unitary council in 2009.

We have a vision to create strong communities in Wiltshire and our 10 year business plan (2017 – 2027) sets out our priorities and how we will deliver them by working collaboratively with local communities and our partners as well as continuing to invest in technology to make it easier for our residents and businesses to engage with us and resolve matters more quickly.

Our senior leadership structure is strong and aligns with our business plan. We operate without a Chief Executive with a corporate leadership team consisting of three Corporate Directors supported in that team by our statutory Directors (Monitoring Officer, Head of Paid Service and Section 151 Officer), who work closely with the Leader and Cabinet to deliver the priorities in the plan, and we now have an opportunity in this team for a Director of Finance & Procurement and Section 151 Officer.

We are looking to attract an ambitious and high performing senior leader with enthusiasm and drive who is excited by the challenges we can provide, and the opportunities we can give you in this role to provide the council with effective financial management and assurance and to ensure our investment in services, projects and transformation delivers our vision and business plan priorities.

We are very proud of our staff who are engaged and valued, and this is recognised by our Glassdoor rating of 4.3, which resulted in the council being confirmed as the best council to work for in the UK 2017 and, as an effective people leader, you will work and engage with our staff to develop innovative approaches to transform service delivery.

As a county Wiltshire is a great place to live and work and as a rural county we have beautiful countryside and market towns with great road networks and transport links. Wiltshire is also a thriving county that enables and positively encourages healthy living in strong, inclusive and prosperous communities. We are proud of our heritage and for having a strong community spirit where people come together to support each other, take part in events and activities, and take responsibility for what matters to them. That is what makes us unique, and it’s at the heart of everything we do.

If you are a talented senior leader with the vison, drive and experience we need then we look forward to receiving your application, and thank you for your interest.
